Scan of NYPD notice reminding police that photography in NYC is legal

This April 2009 notice to all NYPD officers reminds them that taking photos and videos in and around New York City is not illegal. Additionally, the notice reminds officers that they cannot demand to see your pictures without a warrant and they cannot ask you to delete photos or destroy film.

Finally, it also reminds NYPD officers that the MTA has deemed photography as a legal act on and around the NYC Subway, Long Island Railroad, and Metro-North rail systems and that officers cannot stop you as long as you are within the boundaries of the MTA code of conduct.

Looking into the Past

Looking into the Past is a photo set on Flickr where images are made by finding old photographs of places, printing them out, and then holding the print up in the modern day location that the original photograph was taken. The mind behind this creative project is of Jason Powell
